Vintage Postcard Firecracker Fun

The first "firecrackers" of the Han dynasty were likely chunks of green bamboo, which someone had thrown onto a fire when dry fuel ran short.

Bamboo grows so fast that pockets of air and sap get trapped inside of the plant's segments.

When heated, the air inside of the hollow reeds expands, and eventually bursts through the side with a long bam! The sizzled and blackened rods were the first bamboo bangers!

Oh my Marie!!!! At least it wasn't naughty, naughty words like some that I've gotten. You can delete them if you wish.

I love the brush painting. My mother bought me a Japanese Brush Painting kit when I was about 12 years old. I worked very hard at learning how to do it. It's harder than you'd think.

Marie I really like the vintage firecracker card. That boy looks so innocent, but he's probably a menace with that sparkler! Bummer you got spam comments; such an annoyance! Too bad they didn't find your post on Spam!
