The Kitty Cat Blues

Since my cats don't like the fresh flow fountain that I bought for them I'm going to either:

  1. spray paint it pink and give it to my niece after telling her that it is a Barbie swimming pool
  2. turn it into a sea monkey aquarium
  3. drink out of it myself

Any ideas?

Greek Milky Way Legend

vintage postcards
Hercules' Daddy - o was Zeus. His mortal mom (Alomene) was a classy dame but not divine.

Zeus decided that he would let the infant suckle on Hera's breast while she was catching some zzzzzz's. Hera's cage was rattled when she woke up and cast an eyeball on the unknown infant.

She pushed baby Hercules away. Her milk spurt everywhere thus creating the milky way! vintage postcards

Penny Farthing

vintage postcards

I just read why this type of bike is called a penny farthing! The two British coins side by side certainly resemble the now nostalgic mode of transportation. How pictoral!

Now where are the brakes on this thing? vintage postcards

Indian Summer Picnic

vintage postcards

It's picnic time! I've brought the Saran Wrap for all of those yummy leftovers! I read that the original substance was greasy and green. It was sprayed on fighter planes to protect them from corosive sea spray! Now it protects your potato salad:) vinta

Twister History

vintage postcards
Let's twist again! Milton Bradley was accused of selling sex in a box after they released the phenomenally successful action game Twister in 1966.

Johnny Carson demonstrated the game on the "Tonight Show" along with the low cut gown wearing Eva Gabor who was a guest that night. vintage postcards

With Eva splayed out on all fours on the polka dot vinyl mat, Johnny twirled the spinner and took his turn. When he climbed on top of Eva, the studio audience went into hysterics, screaming and laughing. More than three million copies of Twisters were sold during its first year of release after that show!

Monopoly Helps WIn Wars

vintage postcards
During World War II, the British secret service hatched a master plan to smuggle escape gear to captured Allied soldiers inside Germany. Their secret weapon? Monopoly boxes.

At the time, the Nazis were hard-pressed to get provisions to their own troops, much less to the Allied soldiers they'd captured.

The Germans happily welcomed Red Cross aid packages for POWs. So throwing Monopoly games into the care kits along with food and clothing was met with little scrutiny. Monopoly was already a well-known game throughout Europe, and the German guards saw it as the perfect way for their detainees to remain occupied for hours. vintage postcards

Real German, French, and Italian currency was hidden under all of the Monopoly funny money! This mullah bribed many a guard. Thousands of POW's escaped because of this brilliant plan!

Spok - Spok Postcard

vintage postcards
Look at the postcard I got in the mail from Ming at Spok - Spok headquarters !

The text is Swedish and reads, 'It's nice to hug!' Isn't that just cute cute cute!

She designs plushies that are just the cat's meow. My eight year old son (who says that he is too old for toys) secretly sleeps with the blue one! I found it under his pillow... shhhhhhhh... don't tell!

What I find paticularly blogalicious is the photos she takes of them around town! I promised Ming that I would shoot some pictures of them at the top of the eiffel tower! I'll post those in a few weeks. Scout's honour!

Here they are in chinatown looking for some yummy snacks!

Spokelina found some vintage bling. She likes vintage postcards too!

Pretty please with sugar on top and a cherry... and a nice smattering of sprinkles... go visit Ming's blog and tell her how adorable those plushies are!

Fairy Soap Vintage Postcard

vintage postcards
Fairy soap started out as a family operated candle and soap company in Cincinnati, Ohio!

Their soap became quite the sudsy sensation! The illuminating candle business was scrapped

I always thought that it was hilarious how it was marketed as having a distinctive fairy smell. How creative! Somebody must have had quite a sniffer. How in the world did they discern that fairy scent!
