Absolutely mad, wonderful and sort of cute. I'd love to see these running around here along with the escaped wallaby.
Very nice to see. You live in France but your name isn't very 'French' to me, are you French? What a great hobby do you have, enjoyed much of your postcards!
There's an ostrich farm here, too, a couple of hours' drive from Belgrade. Gotta go soon and show you!!!
A ride pull by an ostrich! That's something new to me. wonder what it is like.
Have a great week Marie.
An ostrich pulling a wagon, never seen before !
Great !
Very funny! I wish I drove this carriage one day :)
I had no idea an ostrich was so huge! I don't think I've ever seen one up close.
They look scary!!!
Ostrich pulled rides...what fun! I guess they don't like it? When we were children, we used to ride in a little cart pulled by a goat. (The goat didn't seem to mind...) What a fun post...now I can't tell if they have hair/feathers on their heads...some look bald. I wonder...cute video, too, Mary Isabelle! <3
"Pet and be pecked!" You're too cute.
Marie: Neat postcard from a time long past.
Surprise! Surprise! a wagon pulled by an ostrich! I wouldn't mind this fast ride!
That looks like a lot of fun !!!
I really like the postcard and the video.
We have ostrich races, every year, in Virginia City, which is not very far from where I live. They are fun to watch :-)
I wished I could ride with such a wagon pulled by an ostrich, that would be fun !
Ooooh, I wanta go there!!! How funny. (grin)
I know ostriches are strong, but I don't think it's fair to use them like horses.
I love this photo. Imagine being pulled in a wagon by an ostritch!
I love the women and their clothes..I love the decade..they really did it right!Don't you think?
Amazing. I remember seeing ostrich in various zoos we visted but had forgotten about how large and powerful they are. Can you imagine the commotion it would cause if one of these large birds with cart in tow appeared to pick someone up today.
Oh well, Happy Twirls
oh my i love the girl below too
What a fun post. I don't think I have ever heard of this before. It does look like it would be such fun. Thanks for stopping by and leaving such kind comments. I really appreciate it. Hugs, Marty
Wonderful vintage card for Camera Critters!
Hugs and blessings,
Sorry I have not been by in awhile. I have been out of town and then I had my Round Robin. I hope all is well for you.
I never thought they did that. They look pretty good at it.
Thank you for visiting my blog.
An ostrich farm, huh? Yup! That's definitely on my list of places I must see!
That is just too funny! It's definitely something I've never seen before! ~Lori
Hi Marie...
My friend, I'm so glad that you joined in with the fun of "Sunday Favorites"!!! What a great post...so different and fun!!! I just love that old postcard! I love looking at the dress of those times...awesome! I watched the video you included too...cute!!! I think those children were pretty brave to get in the cart to be pulled by the ostrich...those big ol' birds are pretty intimadating to me! hehe!!! Thanks for sharing this cute post with all of us!!!
Warmest wishes,
Chari
I would never have believed it without seeing it with my own eyes.
Great post, the video was fun to watch. Thanks for visiting my Watery Wednesday post. And your comment about the beer? A cold one would have been very welcome in that 90 degree weather we had that weekend!!!!
Really amazing , a cart pulled by ostrich. I wonder do they still doing it now.
Ow my goodness an ostrich farm! You really come up with the most amazing things, Marie. A video from 1941 is really amazing. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week and happy mother's day :)
How crazy is that? Who looks at an ostrich and thinks, "Hey! Lets hook him up to a carriage!"...?
Thanks for visiting me.
Nice post, Marie!
Beautiful the drawing of the girl.
A gem indeed, but I think I'll chicken out...
What a fun shot. There is something so bizarre about an ostrich pulling a wagon.
This is my first visit. I'm loving all these cool postcards.
I have a lovely painting by a very talented artist who would take old postcards and paint a scene on the side with writing. He would leave just enough of the message poking through the paint to make it very intriguing.
Thanks for visiting Prattle.
It is so similar to this one, even in how the wagon is placed.
How Cool! :-) I don't supposed that place is still around... is it?
I love this postcard - what a time to have lived!
Thanks for visiting so that I could in turn find you!
xo
Oh what fun! Totally zany!
Hi, yes, I too, would like to take a spin onboard an ostrich drawn cart. Actually, in real life I find the ostrich just a tad bit intimidating:0
H.
That video was too cute, I love that kid in the beginning that didn't seem to mind the birds pecking at him! lol
As always such clever postcards and of course time with you, Marie!
That's a gawky looking critter, but being pulled by an ostrich has to be a unique experience. Cute card and video.
Oh, my ! Poor ostrich but why not. May be she is glad to pul a sulky.
How fun! I posted one from the Los Angeles Alligator Farm last month. I think they were owned by the same people? In any case, they were right next to each other. What a fine time that must have been.
I don't understand why people think they have the right to use any animal like a beast of burden.
I had visited an ostrich farm, never know that there can pull a wagon with people on it.
Oh, that is amazing! I've never seen anything like it! I wonder if anyone ever tried to put a saddle on one! ha!
Marie! that is too cool :o)
I'd actually love to ride ON an ostrich, like the ones on the movie SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON...or was that an emu?
Blessings & aloha!
