Artichokes & Baby Noah

vintage postcards

Here is a Fête des Mères (Mother's Day) vintage postcard:) Maman is being presented with an artichoke! This reminds me of when I was pregnant with my first little dumpling Noah. (He's 9 now:)

I craved artichokes, artichokes and more artichokes. I could never get enough of the rich perennial thistle! Hubster came home every night from work with a fresh glaucous-green leaved choke or a jar of marinated hearts. Yum!

How sweet. I like artichokes, too.

I love artichokes. You could definitely have craved worse.

Your little dumpling is adorable, if not so little these days. My own chubby little baby is 8 now, so I know the feeling.

Cute postcard and baby photo. I don't often hear about The Craving for healthy foods.

I am a grandfather and partial to your picture of the little one. Thanks for sharing.

I love artichokes. They're not common here, so I haven't had one for a long time.

Beautiful postcard and adorable baby! I never have eaten artichokes, but I would love to know how they taste. They sound really yummy from here. Have a great day, Marie :)

artichokes, one of our favorite dishes. Hubby like artichok dip. use to live in California near Gilroy( artichokes capital of California. nice red suit on child:-)

Your postcard is sooo sweet, with a girl in a red dress.
Your son sure looks masculine even as a baby. One does not often see such tough young guys.

My cravings as a pregnant was lemon ice. Back then hardly possible to find.
My wonderful husband made a thorough research in the district.
Even now lemon ice brings sweet memories...

What a lovely postcard! Imagine...such joy over an artichoke. I'm among the folk who've never tried them...not sure why...

My pregnancy cravings were much less healthy...ice-cream with my first, Twix bars with my second...or perhaps that was just me giving myself permission to eat those yummy things...

I was managing an ice cream shop while I was pregnant. A dream come true for me - not too sure about how the owner felt.

How could you crave artichokes and not chocolate truffles?? Cute babe, cherish the picture and try to remember it as he enters his teen years. :)

Postcardy said...

That is a great card. I learned a new word: glaucous: having a frosted look from a powdery coating, as on "glaucous stems"; "glaucous plants"'

Such a happy postcard! Happy Mother's day!
Didn't have any craving when expecting. So ate everything!

FIRST YOUR LITTLE NOAH IS A DOLL.
I LOVE THAT YOU ARE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY SO I CAN LEARN ABOUT THE FRENCH WAYS. HERE IN AMERICA I DONT THINK ARTICHOKES ARE LIKE THEY ARE THERE. I HAVE ONLY HAD A STEAMED ARTICHOKE 1 TIME AND IT WAS WHEN I WAS AROUND 25 YEARS OLD. I AM 35 NOW AND I HAVE HAD A FEW ARTICHOKE DIPS AT PARTYS AND GATHERINGS BUT THAT IS AS FAR AS IT GOES. I MUST TAKE THE LEAP AND TRY THEM DIFFERENT WAYS.
I CRAVED SOUR STUFF AND BIG MACS AND SAUSAGE MC M UFFINS FROM MC DONALDS, WISH I WOULD HAVE HAD A HEALTHIER CRAVING LIKE YOU.

Oh what a SWEET man you are married to! I love artichokes too - but they were never in my prenatal cravings... I did crave coleslaw though!

So glad you stopped by. I collect vintage/antique postcards. I will browse the wares later today. Love the artichoke....

Warm wishes,

Does Noah like artichoke too, as a result.
Because on the other hand, I hate them, and my children too !

But I definively love that vintage postcard. So different style from black and white ones.
They always represent an happy and smiling family.

Darling baby--it's amazing how fast our kids grow! I love artichokes, too--those probably would have been much more healthy for me when I had cravings. I remember with my first child, I craved bologna sandwiches on white bread with lots of mayo--I ate tons of them--can you imagine anything more unhealthy? I couldn't even choke one down nowadays! It's a wonder that I didn't weigh 200 lbs. when I had that baby!

Funny thing, cravings...I would not have been able to find artichokes back in my craving days. And imagine being in a place where an artichoke bouquet would even be considered, much less drawn on a postcard.

Your little Noah is precious.

this cracks me up! When we lived in France, and my older daughter was a baby I thought it was so funny that artichokes were one of the baby foods that came in a jar! She loves them still. (So do I, but I don't crave them :) Did you perhaps eat artichokes as a baby? Do they come as baby food all over Europe?

We love artichokes too. My French husband planted a few in our garden as he can't get enough of them!

Love your beautiful blog.

I am amazed at how many people like artichokes! I love them, too--and how did that vegetable get such an odd name. One might think "choke" would not be a good thing to put into the name of a plant that tastes so good! (Grin)

Your little one is darling. My youngest is now 19. (sigh) They grow so quickly! Enjoy every moment you can, they said. And they were right.

Whoever "they" are!
